How to read an LED display before comparing it
The model names look like inventory codes, but each part provides useful information. “P3.91 Outdoor 500 × 1000 mm, 7,500 nits, Class AA” means: 3.91 millimeters between the center of one pixel and the next, a cabinet measuring half a meter by one meter, brightness sufficient for direct sunlight, and an AA rating for color uniformity. Using these criteria, you can compare any quote on the market.
- Pixel pitch. Millimeters between pixels. The lower the value, the higher the resolution and the higher the cost. As a practical reference, the minimum viewing distance in meters is approximately equal to the pitch value in millimeters.
- Nits. Brightness level. Indoors, between 1,500 and 2,500. Outdoors in direct sunlight, 6,500 or higher.
- Cabinet size. Determines the possible dimensions: the screen is assembled in multiples of that module.
- Class. Color uniformity among modules. This is noticeable on large surfaces and single-color backgrounds.
Power consumption per m². Defines the electrical connection requirements and the monthly operating cost.

As a general guideline, the minimum viewing distance in meters is roughly equal to the pitch value in millimeters. From there, we evaluate the content and the budget.
No. Beyond a certain distance, the difference is no longer noticeable, and it only increases the cost. On a facade viewed from 25 meters away, paying for a fine pitch doesn’t make a difference.
